Laura Labunet

Laura specialises in contentious and non-contentious insolvency and restructuring matters and international commercial litigation.

Background and experience

Before joining Ogier's Dispute Resolution team in the Cayman Islands, Laura trained and qualified at a leading international law firm in England. She previously worked on the test case for CVA challenges and was involved in a multi-jurisdictional high profile tax fraud case. She has extensive experience in acting for clearing banks and lenders in England and Wales, as well as the Big Four accounting firms, boutique insolvency practitioners' firms, creditors and corporate entities.

Laura studied Economics and Geography at the University of Birmingham before completing her Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course, graduating with an MSc in Law, Business and Management from the University of Law. She is the co-author of the article "Privilege and why it matters to restructuring professionals", published in the Corporate and Insolvency Rescue Journal in December 2022. 

Laura is also a member of the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation and previously sat on the sub-committee for the Midland and North of England regional network.
